The first step is to truly commit to your goal. Ask someone to keep you accountable. That is one of the reasons people hire Professional Organizers. Janet and I will often give free full-house consultations. Then we'll begin working one area for a few days. And often we will give "homework". And we follow-up. Sometimes people just need accountability to get the job done.
So become truly committed and tell a few people of your commitment as soon as possible. Then give them permission to check up on you.
