Junk Mail

To minimize junk mail start by contacting the Direct Marketing Association by e-mail or regular mail.  Visit their website at www.dmaconsumers.org and go to Consumer Assistance.  You can also send a postcard to the DMA, Mail Preference Service, PO Box 643 Carmel, NY 10512.  Ask them to "activate the mail preference service".  You need to list your complete name, address, and zip code. 

Listing with the mail preference service will stop 75% of all national mailings.  It may take a couple of months before you notice a difference in the volume of junk mail, but it is well worth doing.
