No one likes paying bills, but if you devote an hour or two a week and a few square feet of space to it, you'll find that it's a lot less stressful and time-consuming.
Julie Morgenstern, author of Organizing from the Inside Out, is smart. I agree with her when she says to not get hung up on tricking out the perfect home office. You can set up a "perfect" system that totally doesn't work for you. So start by looking at where your piles are and create your system from there. For many families it's in the kitchen, a dining room table, or a corner of the family room.
Put bills in boxes or folders organized around paydays. You can stow them away in a cabinet or sideboard.
The key is being super diligent in paying your bills. Sunday afternoon is my day and time to focus on our finances. If I don't do it then, we're in trouble!
