Place a table and chairs in your child's bedroom to establish a spot for recreation and creativity. We have room for one in our kitchen so that is where ours is. Create an ideal place to look at a book or play with a toy. In doing so, you're introducing kids at an early age to the importance of sitting and focusing. As your child grows and becomes more interested in art, she'll also have a place to sit and spread out.
Consider investing in a chair that is kid sized, yet strong enough for you. My kid doesn't really like to cuddle much but she does like to show me what she is working on at her table. And sometime she asks me join in on the fun. It's easier to do that while sitting on a step stool or a kid's wooden chair.
