Organized in 15 by Becca Clark

People often suffer from disorganization and clutter because they fear the work to change it will be overwhelming. When I consult with clients on a project I usually limit the session to only 4 or 5 hours because it is difficult - both physically and mentally.

However, what amazing changes could you achieve in just 15 minutes a day? Fifteen focused minutes can make the difference between an organized, convenient, attractive space and one that defines the word clutter! Filter and focus have been my theme words for the year and they continue to resonate. Plus, anyone can stand anything for 15 minutes!

Pick a spot, set a timer or some music for 15 minutes, and work on one small area only. No distractions or multi-tasking allowed - just concentrate on the task and visualize the wonderful result to come.
  • What can you do in 15 minutes? Here are some ideas for a home or business office:
  • Set up a file for a project
  • Clear out some inactive files
  • Empty and sort through your top drawer where you store office supplies and heaven knows what all else! Keep the good stuff and toss or share the unloved
  • Gather the 5 to 8 items that you use every day and give them a home in an easily accessible area
  • Delete emails
  • Update your calendar with all those notes and bits of paper that you were saving for this very moment!
  • Shred a bunch of old papers
  • File paper (everybody has this pile and it's boring, but just 15 minutes)
  • Clear off one corner that is covered with stuff - just 1 corner can make you feel so much better!!
Try the 15 minute sweep in any part of your home or office. Do it daily and in 2 weeks see how your space shines!
