Too overwhelmed to start

Maybe you're just too overwhelmed to start organizing your entire home. I have an idea for you. Divide your task into 12 projects or spaces. Assign a month to each of your projects/spaces. Within a year you will be more organized.

The first thing you should do in each space is to start by de-cluttering. And prepare yourself for that by reading my post entitled, "I'm throwin' out 50 things". Follow the 2 rules of disengagement and get excited about your end goal. Focus on it because that will help you get through your year of organization.

Prepare to start next month, in May.

Between now and then identify charitable organizations, selling sites, friends or family who will appreciate receiving everything that you are no longer going to keep. I'm suggesting this because you may be someone who has attachment issues and you feel like getting rid of anything actually hurts. Having an idea of where your item's next home is should help you with that.

Also, before the month of May, analyze why things pile up. Figure out the why behind the chaos. Once May rolls around, DON'T PROCRASTINATE AND WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH TO GET STARTED! Work in small time increments if you have to. 15 minutes of de-cluttering work every day is easy to fit in, but you have to MAKE YOURSELF DO IT. Again, remind yourself of your end goal and envision how you want to live.
